Homestead's Commitment to the Environment

Keep Homestead Beautiful is the City of Homestead's beautification and conservation initiative that encourages residents and visitors to take care of our community by picking up litter, cleaning graffiti, recycling, and planting native trees and plants.  Keep Homestead Beautiful is part of Homestead's commitment to the quality of life for our residents today and tomorrow.

Get Involved

There are several ways you can get involved with the Keep Homestead Beautiful Initiative, like:

Keep Homestead Beautiful Day!

On Saturday, April 30th, 2022 all residents are encouraged to organize their own neighborhood cleanups by recruiting their neighbors, family, and friends. Residents can also join the City of Homestead, along with Code Compliance and Community Policing at the Homestead Police Headquarters, located at 45 NW 1st Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030, starting at 9am.

Littering and illegal dumping are not only unsightly and bad for the environment, but can also carry some serious penalties.  Below are some common offenses and the fines or penalties that can be issued by City of Homestead Police Department and City of Homestead Code Compliance:

  • Littering - $150 fine to individuals or up to $500 per day to property owners
  • Illegal Dumping - up to $500 per day or arrest and vehicle confiscation if done for commercial purposes
  • Bulk Trash Violation - up to $500 per day
  • Overgrown Grass - up to $500 per day
