The official guide to Homestead’s parks and recreational programming was awarded the highest prize in the nationally renowned 3CMA (City-County Communications & Marketing Association) Savvy Awards Competition under the Graphic Design Publications category. The booklet, a digital version of which can be found on the city’s web site, serves as a comprehensive guide to all of the city’s green spaces intended for use by residents and visitors alike.

The guide captured, in vibrant pictures, the color and the essence of the city’s parks and those that enjoy them. The portable booklet is packed with easy to navigate, useful information and, as such, thousands in the community have picked one up during one of the many city sponsored events throughout the year. The project was done in partnership with the Public Information Office and the Parks and Recreation Department, with photography by Patricia Laylle and design by Multimedia Marketing Associates, Inc.
“Format, photography, icons and snappy copy transforms a static brochure into an activated, enticing tool for residents. Looks fun! Makes me want to check it out. Mission accomplished,” commented one of the judges about the entry.Councilwoman Judy Waldman added, “As chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee, I take special pride in working hand-in-hand with city staff to get the message out that our parks are second to none and offer so many benefits that promote a healthy, active lifestyle and that can really bond a community together. I am very proud of this award and of our beautiful parks.”
