To foster the growth of future generations of entrepreneurs in Homestead, the Greater Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce recently established the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Program, which educates and trains students in business practices. During The October City Council meeting, Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough introduced the first class of the YEA! Program and congratulated the students for their initiative and interests in learning how to create and operate their own business.
“Today they are young entrepreneurs, but tomorrow they are future business leaders stimulating the economy here in the City of Homestead,” said Councilwoman Fairclough during the presentation. “I commend the Chamber for bringing this program to our city and cultivating the talent of our business savvy students.”
YEA! is a groundbreaking program that takes students between the ages of 12 and 18 through the process of launching a real business over the course of an academic year. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully formed and functioning businesses, which may be carried on after their graduation from the program. YEA! aims at teaching students at an early age how to make a job, not just take a job.
