The City of Homestead’s annual Race to the 4th celebration at the Homestead-Miami Speedway continues to grow every Fourth of July. Councilwoman Judy Waldman, Chairwoman of the Parks and Recreation Department, who leads the organization of the event, honored Matt Becherer, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway and Al Garcia, Vice President of Operations of Homestead-Miami Speedway for their critical contribution to the success of the event.
“It is an honor to recognize the Homestead-Miami Speedway for being a true partner of the City of Homestead,” said Councilwoman Waldman during a special presentation at the September City Council meeting. “Every year the Speedway team comes through with their help and enthusiasm to make this iconic community event in Homestead better than the year before.”
The City of Homestead’s annual Fourth of July celebration, Race to the 4th, was hosted for its fourth year at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Thursday, July 4th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Over 10,000 people attended this free event, which featured family entertainment, live music, children’s rides, food and drinks, games and a major Independence Day fireworks display.
Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer said this year’s Race to the 4th was the best attended yet. “It’s a pleasure to host “Race to the 4th” at Homestead-Miami Speedway for what has become a great community tradition. It remains a fun family event and a fantastic venue to celebrate Independence Day.”
