Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough-McCormick recognized two local companies at the May 15 Homestead City Council meeting for their support to education and students in Homestead. The two companies, Valley Crest Landscaping Company and Community Bank of Florida, have organized and participated in award ceremonies to recognize local students who have been accepted to college.
“We all know how difficult it is to go off to college, and the one thing I remember is the people who invested in me, and provided opportunities for me,” said Councilwoman Fairclough-McCormick. “Today I am happy to recognize our community leaders for their continuing commitment to college bound City of Homestead high school seniors; their support and investment will help shape the future leaders of this country and our community.”
Councilwoman Fairclough-McCormick recognized and awarded a certificate of recognition to Community Bank of Florida, which hosted its annual Scholastic Breakfast and Award Ceremony recognizing local high school seniors of distinction. Bob Epling a representative of Community Bank of Florida also received a certificate of appreciation for recognizing Miranda Hernandez, Brenda Hernandez and Crystal Ruiz of the Mayor’s Youth Council during a Miami Dade Schools Award Ceremony hosted by Miami-Dade County School Board Member Dr. Feldman.
Valley Crest Landscaping Companies also received a certificate of appreciation for their generous donation of five $100 Wal-Mart gift cards to five top Homestead students headed off to college this year. Student Bo Ellis also received an iPad from Valley Crest for his acceptance to Harvard University.
