[ARCHIVED] City of Homestead Monitoring Hurricane Dorian, HPS Sanitation Pickups May Be Affected

Hurricane Dorian Update

The City of Homestead is currently monitoring Hurricane Dorian and encourages all Homestead residents to check their hurricane plans. It is too early to know the exact impacts for South Florida, but wind and rain impacts are likely late this weekend into early next week.

HPS Sanitation is currently following the normal solid waste pickup schedule. There are no planned additional bulky waste pickups outside of the normal solid waste schedule. Residents are reminded not to place items out for pickup if they do not have a regularly scheduled bulky waste pickup. As soon as tropical force winds are in effect all waste pickups will stop to ensure the safety of employees. Therefore, regular scheduled pickups may be interrupted due to the hurricane, so please plan accordingly. If there is an interruption, services will be provided on the next scheduled pickup.

Trolley service will also stop as soon as tropical force winds are in effect.
