At the Special Presentation on June 19th, Councilwoman Jenifer N. Bailey honored the efforts of the South West Advisory Committee and their recent efforts in organizing ArtWalk Homestead’s Art in the Park on May 25th at Blakey Park. The Southwest Advisory Committee (SWAC) was established by the City of Homestead as an advisory board whose main goal is the enhancement of the quality of life in the Southwest area of Homestead.
Councilwoman Bailey said, “We want to showcase our community parks and programs, and we want to make sure the kids are turned on to all the cool programs we have available throughout the summer.
We did this ArtWalk and one of our main goals was to reach out to the community, including seeking submissions for a new SWAC logo.”
She added, “Tonight, I thought it would be fitting to recognize a couple of organizations that really go above and beyond, including SWAC.”
She invited members of the South West Advisory Committee (SWAC) to join her at the front of the Council Chambers including Kenney Cenat, Jeanette Mallary, Jerry Cummings and Pastor Michael Stiles, SWAC vice chairman. They were wearing special SWAC t-shirts printed with the slogan, “SWAC’s Got Your Back.” Councilwoman Bailey also acknowledged SWAC Chairman Atravius Smith, Pastor Reginald Joseph and Audelia Martinez, who were unable to be present.
She presented the group members with certificates and said, “This is a very small token of appreciation. This is an all-volunteer group and they work really hard to bring great things to the South West area and to Homestead. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you very, very much.”
Please note: SWAC logo submissions can be mailed or dropped off to City Hall (ATTN: SWAC) at 100 Civic Court, Homestead, FL 33030 or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. All persons submitting must also sign a waiver releasing artwork for the use of the City of Homestead Southwest Advisory Committee.
