The City of Homestead has received many inquiries in regards to the “Homestead temporary influx facility” currently housing unaccompanied immigrant children near the Homestead Air Reserve Base and we want to take this opportunity to clarify a few things for our residents.
- Despite having the “Homestead” name the facility is located outside of Homestead City Limits.
- The facility is located on federal land and falls under the purview of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
- Because the facility is located on federal land it is not licensed or regulated by local government entities including the State of Florida, Miami-Dade County, or the City of Homestead.
Any concerns or questions regarding the facility should be addressed to the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
