During a special presentation at the January 2013 City Council meeting, Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough-McCormick recognized local business Chefs on the Run for being the first Homestead restaurant to be invited to participate in the internationally known culinary fair South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE is a national, star-studded, four-day destination event showcasing the talents of the world’s most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs and culinary personalities.
“Being invited to the South Beach Wine and Food Festival is a great honor and an opportunity to bring attention to our beautiful city,” said Councilwoman Fairclough-McCormick. “I am proud to recognize Chefs on the Run for this accomplishment and ask that you join me in supporting them as well.”
Located in the Historic Business District in Downtown Homestead at 10 East Mowry Drive, Chefs on the Run Assorted Cuisine brings to the local scene a variety of cuisines that includes Puerto Rican, Greek and Asian. To participate in the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, the local restaurant is looking to raise $6,000 to fund their menu and promotional materials.
“It is a great honor to be the very first restaurant from Homestead to be invited to this prestigious event,” said restaurant co-owner Jessica Ujaque. “We want to bring more visitors to our unique city and would appreciate it any way in which our community can help us to make this dream a reality. Thanks to everyone who has supported us and continue to do so, we will make you proud.”
