[ARCHIVED] FDOT Plans New Traffic Patterns through Thursday for Turnpike Construction Work

Turnpike Ramp Construction Updates

Commuters may want to avoid Campbell Drive near Florida’s Turnpike this week as crews work to improve the roadway. The Florida Department of Transportation announced that it will be closing several lanes and entrance and exit ramps near the intersection through Thursday.

The work is part of a project to improve drive times in South Dade. It includes widening the southbound exit ramp to two lanes, constructing a new northbound entrance ramp, and adding lanes to both eastbound and westbound Campbell Drive between the 157th block and NE 30th Terrace. Work will also include new signals, lights and drainage.

Construction is expected to continue through summer 2018.

• Northbound or southbound Florida’s Turnpike at various locations between Campbell Drive and south of Southwest 288th Street: single lane closures, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.

• Campbell Drive eastbound and westbound approaching Florida’s Turnpike: double lane closure, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. AND 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

• Campbell Drive eastbound and westbound between SW 15700 Block and NE 30th Terrace: continuous single lane closure. This new traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately four months in order to allow crews to perform construction activities in this area.

• Florida’s Turnpike northbound entrance and exit ramps to and from Campbell Drive will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Detour in place. Entrance and exit ramps will not be closed at the same time.
