During a special presentation at the December City Council meeting, Councilman Jimmie L. Williams, III and Juanita Smith, Homestead soup Kitchen’s head volunteer, encouraged the community to support Councilwoman Judy Waldman’s annual Christmas Toy Drive for the Homestead Soup Kitchen.
Councilman Williams said the annual Christmas Toy Drive, which is held during the months of November and December, will benefit the children of families who receive services from the Homestead Soup Kitchen. Councilman Williams asked the community to support the drive and donate new toys that will be distributed to kids who otherwise will not receive any Christmas gifts. Councilwoman Waldman will distribute the toys along with volunteers on Monday, December 24th at noon at the Homestead Soup Kitchen.
“I would like for you all to remember that these families do not have anything,” said Juanita Smith of the Homestead Soup Kitchen, who is a retired-former commissioner of the City of Florida City. “Whatever you can provide for these families during this Holiday Season and throughout the year will be greatly appreciated. Councilwoman Waldman has been helping us for many years and these families really appreciate it”
