[ARCHIVED] City of Homestead Continues to Monitor Hurricane Irma, a Category 3 Hurricane

Hurricane Irma Updates

As of 11:00PM Saturday, September 9, 2017, this is what is expected for Homestead as Hurricane Irma continues to approach:


Hurricane Irma is a Category 3, but is expected to restrengthen as it continues to move northwest.


Hurricane Irma will begin to cross the Florida Keys Sunday morning, meaning Homestead will also start to feel greater effects of Irma.


Homestead is projected to receive 3-5 feet of storm surge


There will be 8-15 inches of rain, with the possibility of 20 inches of rain in portions of Homestead.


There is a moderate risk of tornadoes through Sunday as Hurricane Irma continues its path.

A partir de las 11:00 PM del sábado 9 de septiembre de 2017, esto es lo que se espera para Homestead mientras el huracán Irma sigue acercándose:


El huracán Irma es una categoría 3, pero se espera que restrengthen mientras que continúa moviéndose al noroeste.


El huracán Irma comenzará a cruzar los Cayos de Florida el domingo por la mañana, lo que significa que Homestead también comenzará a sentir mayores efectos de Irma.
