[ARCHIVED] The Race to the 4th is On! Homestead Hosts Annual Independence Day Bash

The Race to the 4th is on! Back for its 7th year, this Independence Day bash at the Homestead-Miami Speedway will delight patriots of all ages. On Monday, July 4, 2016 from 6PM to 10PM, a sea of people, awash in reds, whites, and blues, will descend upon the track—being treated to live music, food trucks, and kids’ activities. Last year’s event boasted over 20,000 attendees and this year is expected to draw even more. Of course, no 4th of July celebration would be complete without a fireworks display and this will be no exception.

Local staple, Main Highway, will bring classic rock and roll sounds all night long, covering everything from The Animals to ZZ Top. Great vocals and harmonies guarantee you’ll be dancing in the streets until it’s time for the grand finale. Plus, local up-and-comer Above the Skyline will be pumping up the energy with their alt-rock attitude, guaranteed to leave you singing along with their original music. This salute to all things America will culminate with the best fireworks show in South Florida—a dazzling display of pyrotechnics synced to patriotic tunes.

The Champions Club, which offers a preferred view of the epic fireworks display from above, will play host to a special VIP Event. A limited number of $20 tickets for guests 13 years old and up will be available for purchase starting June 13th at the City of Homestead Parks and Recreation Department, 350 SE 6th Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030. Tickets for children from 7 to 12 years old are $10 and children who are under 6 years old can get into the Champions Club for free with a ticket.

Tickets include VIP parking inside the stadium and food and soft drinks served inside the Champions Club. Plus, the pie-eating contest will be back for the second year. Last year’s defending champion is taking all challengers in this literal battle of the bulge.
