[ARCHIVED] Angeline Marie Martinez Exhibit presented by Councilman Stephen Shelley

Art in the Chamber, a program created by Councilman Stephen R. Shelley to help local artist gain exposure, is showcasing an exhibit by local artist Angeline Marie. The exhibit is called the Absence of Green and will be at the City of Homestead Council Chamber during the months of November and December.

“Palm trees are protective, nurturing, practical, and gorgeous and somehow silly,” said artist Angeline Marie about what inspired her work. “In Florida, miles of green palm trees are expected and depicted in most art. Consciously rejecting the idea of realism, the majority of this palm tree art has an Absence of Green.”

This art exhibit of palm trees is punctuated by green, existing here among the oranges, browns, reds, purples, blues, and yellows. Green is absent to highlight the shapes and patterns created by palm trees. Aspects and expressions of palm trees are explored through textures and patterns. Absence of Green, an art exhibit to express the love of palm trees with minimal use of the color green.

Angeline Marie resides in Homestead, Florida. Her paintings feature landscapes, figures, and animals with many different materials such as acrylics, encaustics, and found objects. The artist continues to develop her style of celebrating nature with a dark twist. She currently shares her unique art at www.angelinemarie.net

Angeline uses her existing environment combined with desire and passion to influence her landscapes. Her paintings nudge viewers into coming closer and conjuring visions of imagined places and pasts. Her landscapes are designed to “take you out of this world.”
