The Homestead Police Department strives to go above and beyond for the residents of Homestead. While deployed for six months abroad, Colonel Thomas D. Davis of the Homestead Air Reserve Base, his wife Jesika, and daughter Samantha witnessed this very trait of excellence.
Before leaving on duty, Colonel Davis entrusted the safety and protection of his family to the Police Department. Though Colonel Davis didn’t request special patrols he did ask that the Department check in from time to time. Throughout his deployment, Colonel Davis’ family often observed police lights flashing into their backyard and shift sergeants knocking on the door to simply ask if all was well.
It is because of this exceptional dedication and manifestation of leadership demonstrated by the Homestead Police Department that Colonel Davis recognized the department with an American Flag specially flown over the base in Afghanistan where Colonel Davis had been stationed. It was then flown back to the United States so that he could present it to the Homestead Police Department, an honor reserved as one of the highest.
Chief Rolle accepted the honor and thanked his entire department for doing their job and making the community feel united and safe. “It is these simple things that make our community strong and a better place, thank you to the entire department for a job well done,” said Chief Rolle.
