Steve Bateman was re-elected Mayor of the City of Homestead on November of 2011 for a two-year term. He is no stranger to Homestead politics and previously served a two-year term as Mayor in 2009, a two-year term as Vice Mayor in 1995 and served as a Councilman from 1997-2004. Prior to his service on the City of Homestead Council, he was Chairman of the City's Planning and Zoning Board and served on the City's Code Enforcement Board.
Mayor Bateman was born in Miami, FL and moved with his family to Homestead in 1966. He attended Homestead Middle School, South Dade High School and Miami Dade College. Mayor Bateman is the owner and President of Two Brothers Construction, Inc. located in Homestead and has been in business for over 30 years.
Mayor Bateman is very active in the community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce, was Chair of the Chamber's Military Affairs Committee and has been an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Homestead/South Dade since 1982. His civic awards include being named Kiwanian of the year and being awarded a Key to the City in February 2004 for his dedicated service as a public official to the citizens of Homestead.
Mayor Bateman and his wife, Donna, have one son, Austin.
