HPS Energy Power Restoration Plan for Hurricane Irma

Using historical modeling and based upon the current forecast path and intensity, we anticipate that approximately 22,000 customers in Homestead could experience power outages due to this storm and may experience more than one outage throughout its duration. In preparation, we have activated a staging site and will be augmenting our power restoration staff with out-of-state resources committed to assisting Homestead.

The restoration workforce will be mobilized to quickly start working as soon as it is safe to do so. The committed out-of-state resources will multiple the people available to assist with power restoration by a factor of 6, and we are working to secure more.

To keep our employees safe, once tropical storm force winds begin we will stop all power restoration efforts.

We urge customers to finalize preparations; heed safety warnings and evacuation orders from local, state and federal officials.

As soon as it is safe to begin power restoration, we will implement our formal restoration plan.

In an effort to keep you informed, please follow us at www.cityofhomestead.com/irma for the most up-to-date information about your area.
